So i had to skip most of weeks as partly most of my animations were done already. I was focusing on other modules. We started to render our animation properly for the scene. We decided to make some kind of trailer where 2 heroes fight a dragon. Working on placing all renders properly. To be honest i was expecting something better. Dont know why it look a bit s**t?!
On the other hand, if i will add a bit of music, sound effects and visual effects it would look better.
So here is the video without sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBdxIyr8nyc
Our team work is slowly going its way. Still lots of work to do and Alan is crying because he managed to brake his animation several times. Me and Tyler are trying to help him out. As most of animations are already done. However, i have only 5 animations and i need to create something new.
I came up with the idea to make a special idle animation. Hopefully it will be in the final animation movie.
As we already talked about our scene with Tyler and Alan. there will be a scene where dragon should land. And therefore i had to make a landing animation. Well, i cheated a bit on this one. I had a Take off animation, so instead of making new one i just reversed all the frames to make it look like my dragon is landing. Here is how it came out:
So we had to make a team work with Tyler and Alan. Alan is making a rogue female and Tyler was doing Mage Female. Both will be fighting dragon at the end. However, i was braking my head to find out how to combine our animations. Still we have lots of time, but i really want to know it.
Nevertheless, i was busy making my dragon to take off animation. You remember i said walking and flying animations was hard? forget it... this one took a whole life out of me. I did a record on this of rage quiting... Used a bit of help from mate to get their feedback and advises how to make it. Here what i managed to make:
So the most fun part was to make my dragon fly. Asked Phil few advises, as my flying animation was kinda...robot... style?! i guess. However, i really liked the way he was flying in the first place. After making him fly, i stuck at making this animation cycle. Took me 2-3 day to figure it out and still failed. Had to ask Phil again to help... He came, just sat there, took him 2 minutes to do it and its done. Im not that good at animation. But still i do love how it looks like
Here is the result
So my next step is to make my dragon walk. It was quite hard and few time i managed to rage quit maya. As i broke my rig few times. After some time, i started to animate feet and the process went well. I asked few advises from Roshine and used youtube videos to guide me. I found few interesting videos where some guy showes how to make a walking dragon. There was only one small problem, the dragon was different from mine, but i got the point how to make him move.
Here is what i came up with
I managed to play around with the dragon and its quite interesting. However its a bit hard to control it. Maybe because i m not used to it.
Here is what i came up with.
Hope this video will upload.
Anyway i made my head to move and so his jaw, to make it look like he is breathing. Also made his body to move with a tale as well.
It was quite easy to make idle pose.
So the task is to make 6 animations with walking or running cycles. Im really thinking what to start animating. I would really love to animate a dragon, only if i will find one.
At the moment i'm trying to play around with Sem Fisher rig from Splinter Cell...
However its a bit stupid as this rig does not have a lot to use.
Update:
i Finally found my dragon:
